Irene Peinado Campeona de la Travesía Castell de Peñíscola
, con 38 Comentarios, Categoría: Absoluto, Competiciones nacionales,El domingo 24 de julio de 2022 tuvo lugar la Travesía de Natación Castell de Peñíscola con una distancia de cinco kilómetros. Esta travesía era la novena etapa de la VII Copa de España de Aguas Abiertas Open.
La Copa de España de Aguas Abiertas integra travesías cuyas distancias varían entre tres y diez kilómetros. Las diferentes etapas de la competición establecen tres niveles, Tour 1000, Tour 500 y Tour 250, dependiendo de las puntuaciones, siendo las pruebas del Campeonato de España de Aguas Abiertas, la etapa de Navia (Asturias) y la Etapa Final de Cartagena las etapas Tour 1000 que más puntuación dan. Cada participante compite en tantas etapas del circuito como quiera, pero para la clasificación solamente puntúan la mejor de las Tour 1000, las dos mejores de Tour 500 y las tres mejores de Tour 250.
Irene Peinado Morales, nadadora del Club Natación San Fernando, ganó con claridad la Travesía de Natación Castell de Peñíscola con un tiempo de una hora, diez minutos y dos segundos. La travesía tuvo 228 participantes e Irene finalizó la prueba en tercer lugar junto al segundo clasificado masculino.
La prueba comenzó a las nueve de la mañana en Playa Sur con marea baja que hizo que los deportistas tuvieran que correr unos trescientos metros para adentrarse al mar y con el agua que no llegaba a la rodilla, hecho que perjudicó bastante a Irene. Tuvieron que circunvalar los acantilados de Peñíscola con unas vistas maravillosas del pueblo y del castillo templario del Papa Luna. Tras rodear la ciudad durante dos kilómetros aproximadamente en los que Irene tuvo que adelantar a nadadores para ponerse en los grupos de cabeza, se llegó a Playa Norte y a partir de ese punto, durante tres kilómetros y paralelos a las boyas de límite de baño, se llegó a la meta que se encontraba situada en el Gran Hotel Peñíscola.
Fue en Playa Norte donde el nadador del C.N. Toledo, Alberto Martín, tomó una distancia sobre Irene y Lluís Pijuan y tras ellos un grupo a unos dos minutos de diferencia en el que se encontraba la nadadora andorrana, Alexandra Mejía, que finalmente sería subcampeona femenina. Los grupos no se modificaron en cabeza y fue así como llegaron a la meta en una prueba dura por la alta temperatura a primera hora de la mañana y por el fuerte ritmo impuesto por los primeros clasificados.
Cuando se han celebrado más de la mitad de las etapas del circuito, Irene Peinado lidera la clasificación Elite de la Copa de España con 1.700 puntos seguida de Alba Maestro del C.N. L’Hospitalet, tercera en Peñíscola, con 1.200 puntos e Itaxo Alonso, del Getxo Igeriketa Bolue K.E., con 1.100 puntos.
